6:46 p.m. By a vote of 59-31, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Darrel James Papillion to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana. • Republican Senators voting YEA – Capito, Cassidy, Collins, Cornyn, Hyde-Smith, Kennedy, McConnell, Romney, Rounds, Vance, Wicker and Young Senators • Not Voting – Barrasso, Bennett, Booker, Cruz, Fetterman, Graham, Murkowski, Risch, Tillis, and Warner.
6:57 p.m. The Senate stands in recess until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Following leader remarks, the Senate will recess from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. to allow for weekly caucus meetings. At 2:30 p.m. the Senate will proceed to Legislative session and will proceed to a roll call vote on the Motion to Proceed to H.J.Res. 45, Cassidy Student Loan Waiver CRA. If the Motion to Proceed is agreed to, the vote on final passage of H.J.Res. 45 will be at a time to be determined with consultation with the Republican Leader on Thursday, June 1, 2023.
