10:36 a.m. Republican Leader McConnell spoke about the Biden Administration nominations.

11:01 a.m. Senator Thune spoke about the southern border and inflation.

11:08 a.m. Senator Cornyn spoke about defense and intelligence.

11:26 a.m. Senator Ernst spoke about the Syed nomination to the Small Business Administration.

11:35 Senator Schumer announced that the cloture vote on the Ho nomination is withdrawn and the Senate will recess until 2:15 after the confirmation vote on David Crane. A cloture vote on the nomination of Dilawar Syed will occur at 2:30 p.m.

11:36 p.m. The Senate began voting on confirmation of David Crane to be Under Secretary of Energy.

12:30 p.m. By a vote of 56-43, the Senate confirmed David Crane to be Under Secretary of Energy. Republican senators voting in favor – Cassidy, Collins, Graham, Hoeven, Murkowski and Sullivan. Senator Murray did not vote.

12:31 p.m. The Senate stands in recess until 2:15 p.m.

2:15 p.m. The Senate returned from the recess. Senator Duckworth spoke in support of the Syed nomination.

2:20 p.m. Senator Cardin spoke in favor of the Syed nomination.

2:25 p.m. The Senate began voting on cloture on the Syed nomination.

3:16 p.m. The Senate invoked cloture on the Syed nomination, 54-44. Republicans voting in favor: Cassidy, Collins, Murkowski, Ricketts and Sullivan. Senators not voting: Murray and Sanders,
